JOB TITLE: Jr. High Science Teacher
SUPERVISOR: Principal
STATUS: Certified
SALARY: In accordance with the currently approved professional schedule.
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Academic SY 2024-2025 ~ 4 Day Work Week
OVERVIEW
This position involves a broad range of responsibilities for the betterment of and to provide support for the Nadaburg Unified School District and NUSD Governing Board.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have “Middle Grades General Science 7-8” Endorsement or 7-12 Endorsement.
As set by state certification authorities; meets NCLB Highly Qualified requirements.

Reports to: Principal
General Duties:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to address the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Ascertain possible learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for Instructional Paraprofessional(s) and/or volunteer(s) in cooperation with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
- Maintains professionalism by participating in all faculty meetings.
- Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with community, colleagues, and administration.
- Provides for his/her professional growth through an on-going program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Other responsibilities as determined by the Principal.
EVALUATION: Performance reviews of the “Classroom Teacher" will be undertaken in accordance with the provisions of the Board Policy relating to certified evaluations pertaining to this position.
