ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   
 
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation. • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to address the individuals or student groups involved. • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. • Ascertain possible learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required. • Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy. • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested. • Monitor student progress to guide ongoing planning and instruction • Documents progress that learners have made in relation to the observed lesson objective • Utilizes instructional strategies to ensure students develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways • Uses strategies that build learner self-direction and ownership of learning • Collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.
 
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Current teaching certificate  • Appropriately certified in Core Content Area • SEI Endorsement Required
 
PREFFERED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • High school teaching experience  • Endorsement or extensive course work in multiple content areas • High school practicum or teaching experience
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 Knowledge of: • Best practices in teaching and learning • Writing and executing lesson plans with subgroups and subobjectives.  • Student engagement practices • Best practices in the use of technology and student online learning platforms
 
Skilled in: • Locating and synthesizing best practices, emerging concepts, and new research in academia and education • Building relationships and creating enthusiasm with students, faculty members, and families. • Making data driven decisions • Organizing and planning instructional support based on individual needs and priorities • Using data and technology to personalize learning for students.  • Utilizing of a variety of frameworks, platforms, and technology tools to enhance productivity and maintain appropriate records

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  The employee must use hands, arms and fingers to input data, handle, feel or reach; employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
 
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and can vary in temperature. The nature of this position is fast-paced and may occasionally be thought of as stressful. Through interaction with the public and other district employees, the employee may encounter different scents.
